Compute slice is the building block (CPU and RAM) for your virtual data center (vDC). You can subscribe to one or more slices that supports your vDC as the first step and then create your own virtual machine specifications (CPU and RAM) out of the accumulated slices capacity. This will give you the freedom to define any virtual machine specifications out of slices capacity. This will give flexibility of creating customized VMs to fulfill your workload requirements.
